How we scored it
Basic zinc carbonate, e.g. Zn5(CO3)2(OH)6 about 549: zinc, carbonate and hydroxide are all mineral. 549 / 549 = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Precipitated by reacting zinc oxide or zinc salts from ore refining with sodium carbonate; the natural mineral hydrozincite is the equivalent. No organic or petrochemical fragment is present.
In plain English
A white mineral powder used to adjust acidity and add bulk in powders and creams. It is zinc combined with carbonate and hydroxide, made from refined zinc ore, and resembles the mineral hydrozincite.
