Reporting a scoring error
This is the most useful mail we get. To let us check it quickly, please include:
- The ingredient — its INCI name, or a link to its page on this site.
- What you believe is wrong — the score itself, the feedstock we assumed, the synthesis route, the molecular formula, the function, or the wording.
- A source — a PubChem or CosIng entry, a supplier technical data sheet, a patent, or a paper. A specific reference moves an entry much faster than an assertion.
Every score is a reading of a published method, so tell us if you read it differently — the method page sets out exactly how a value is arrived at, and the corrections page lists the conventions the reviews follow and what has already changed.
Certification and formula assessment
If you want a whole formula scored, or a certificate and badge for a product, start with the request form on the Get certified page — it asks for the details needed to quote. Formulas are received in confidence, and a product score is published only if you choose to publish it. The services page sets out what each option covers.
Press, data and everything else
Questions about the method, requests to reuse the ingredient data, and anything not covered above go to the same address. The ingredient data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0, so you do not need permission — but we are glad to hear what it is being used for.
