How we scored it
Botanical leaf extract: all mass is plant-derived (n = 1). Extraction solvent leaves no counted mass. Natural mass 100% of total, NOI = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant feedstock is the dried leaf of European mistletoe, extracted with water, ethanol or a glycol/glycerin mixture and concentrated. No synthetic route exists; carriers such as glycols, if used, are declared separately on the label.
In plain English
An extract of the leaves of European mistletoe (Viscum album), a semi-parasitic evergreen shrub that grows on trees, used to soothe skin. The leaves are extracted with water, alcohol or glycol and concentrated.
CosIng definition: Viscum Album Leaf Extract is an extract of the leaves of the Mistletoe, Viscum album L., Loranthaceae
