How we scored it
Where it comes from
Manufactured entirely from fluorochemical and petrochemical intermediates: a perfluoropolyether, isophorone diisocyanate, a synthetic amino-diol, and 2-ethylhexanol. No natural-origin route exists for this specialty polymer.
In plain English
A film-forming polymer built entirely from synthetic petroleum- and fluorine-based ingredients. It forms a coating on hair or skin used in conditioning and protective products.
CosIng definition: Polyurethane-26 is a complex polymer that is formed by the reaction of Polyperfluoroethoxymethoxy Difluorohydroxyethyl Ether and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) to form a prepolymer. The prepolymer is further reacted with 3-diethylamino-1,2-propanediol followed by the capping of any residual isocyanate groups with 2-ethyl-1-hexanol. The resulting polymer is neutralized with acetic acid
