How we scored it
Natural plant exudate gum (this site's convention: gums=1.0); 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Harvested by tapping the bark of Acacia senegal trees, mainly in the Sahel region, and drying the exuded gum. It is cleaned and milled but not chemically altered.
In plain English
The dried gum exuded from the acacia tree, collected by tapping the bark. Used to form a film and thicken formulas, and lends a light natural scent.
CosIng definition: Acacia Senegal Gum is the dried, gummy exudate of the acacia, Acacia senegal, Leguminosae
