How we scored it
Where it comes from
Lauroyl glutamic acid (coconut fatty acid plus fermentation glutamic acid) is amidated with petrochemical n-butylamine. Bio-butylamine from fermentation butanol is not a commercially significant route.
In plain English
An oil-thickening gelling agent that also forms a conditioning film on skin and hair. It joins lauric acid from coconut or palm kernel oil to glutamic acid from fermentation, then adds two butyl amide groups made from petrochemical butylamine.
