How we scored it
Zn(OH)Cl: zinc 65.4 + chloride 35.5 + hydroxide 17.0 = 117.8, all mineral ions (; ionic chloride); 117.8/117.8 = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route: reaction of zinc oxide or zinc metal with hydrochloric acid or zinc chloride solution at controlled pH to precipitate basic zinc chloride. The same compound also occurs in nature as the mineral simonkolleite.
In plain English
A mineral zinc compound made of zinc, chloride and hydroxide ions, used as a white powder to add bulk to products. It is basic zinc chloride (zinc hydroxychloride) produced from zinc minerals and chloride.
Structure
zinc;chloride;hydroxide
