How we scored it
Prenylated chalcone flavonoid naturally occurring in hops; commercially obtained by extraction from hop cones, so the whole molecule is natural (n=1).
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Extracted and purified from hop cones (Humulus lupulus), a byproduct of the brewing industry. Laboratory total synthesis exists but is not the commercial route.
In plain English
A natural compound from hops used to condition skin. It's extracted from hop flowers rather than made synthetically.
Structure
(E)-1-[2,4-dihydroxy-6-methoxy-3-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)phenyl]-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one
