How we scored it
Botanical flower extract: all mass is plant-derived (n = 1). Extraction solvent leaves no counted mass. Natural mass 100% of total, NOI = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant feedstock is the flower of wasabi, extracted with water, ethanol or a glycol/glycerin mixture and concentrated. No synthetic route exists; carriers such as glycols, if used, are declared separately on the label.
In plain English
An extract of the flowers of wasabi (Wasabia japonica), a Japanese member of the cabbage family, listed for humectant and skin-protecting roles. The flowers are extracted with water, alcohol or glycol and concentrated, so it comes wholly from the plant.
CosIng definition: Wasabia Japonica Flower Extract is the extract of the flowers of Wasabia japonica, Brassicaceae.
