How we scored it
Expressed plant juice (water plus dissolved plant solutes): all mass plant-derived, so 1.0. No synthetic fragments.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Flowers of Viola tricolor are harvested, pressed and filtered to give the juice. No commercially significant synthetic route exists; any added preservative is a separate INCI entry.
In plain English
Juice pressed from the flowers of wild pansy (heartsease), used as a skin-conditioning ingredient in water-based products. It comes straight from the plant: the flowers are pressed and the juice filtered, with no synthetic building blocks.
CosIng definition: Viola Tricolor Flower Juice is the juice expressed from the flowers of the Pansy, Viola tricolor L., Violaceae
