How we scored it
Hydrosol: condensed steam water (n = 1) plus trace plant volatiles (n = 1); nothing petrochemical. Natural mass 100% of total, NOI = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant feedstock is vervain flower and leaf, steam-distilled with the aqueous condensate collected as the product. No synthetic route exists; a preservative, if added, is declared separately.
In plain English
The aromatic water that condenses when flowers and leaves of common vervain (Verbena officinalis) are steam distilled. It is mostly water with traces of plant volatiles and is used for scent, flavour and skin conditioning.
CosIng definition: Verbena Officinalis Flower/Leaf Water is an aqueous solution of the steam distillate obtained from the flowers and leaves of Verbena, Verbena officinalis L., Verbenaceae
