How we scored it
Hydrosol: condensed steam water (n = 1) plus trace fruit volatiles (n = 1); nothing petrochemical. Natural mass 100% of total, NOI = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant feedstock is lingonberry fruit, steam-distilled with the aqueous condensate collected as the product. No synthetic route exists; a preservative, if added, is declared separately.
In plain English
The water that condenses when lingonberry or cowberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea) fruit is steam distilled. It is mostly water with traces of the berry's aroma compounds, and is used for scent and skin conditioning.
CosIng definition: Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea Fruit Water is an aqueous solution of the steam distillate obtained from the fruit of the Cowberry, Vaccinium vitis-idaea L., Ericaceae
