How we scored it
Glycerol (natural) + 3x decanoic acid C10 (natural, coconut/palm-kernel) esterified, losing only water = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Made by esterifying glycerin with capric acid, both typically derived from coconut or palm kernel oil. Condensation releases only water, so no outside mass enters the molecule.
In plain English
A light, silky oil made from glycerin and capric acid, a fatty acid found in coconut oil. It conditions skin and can also carry fragrance in cosmetic formulas.
Structure
2,3-di(decanoyloxy)propyl decanoate
