How we scored it
Botanical callus culture extract; all carbon from plant biomass, no synthetic fragments.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Produced from cultured plant callus cells of Symphytum officinale (comfrey), grown in bioreactors rather than field-harvested. The extract is otherwise processed like any plant extract, with no petrochemical inputs.
In plain English
A soothing plant extract grown from comfrey cells cultured in a lab rather than harvested from whole plants, used to condition skin. It comes entirely from plant biomass.
CosIng definition: Symphytum Officinale Callus Culture Extract is the extract of a culture of the callus of Symphytum officinale, Boraginaceae.
