How we scored it
Only Na, Mg, Al, Si and O (mineral-derived silicate); nitrate and aqueous reagents leave no mass: 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Made by precipitating sodium silicate and sodium aluminate in aqueous magnesium nitrate, giving a synthetic clay-like silicate from mineral feedstocks. No petrochemical fragments are present.
In plain English
A fine, absorbent mineral powder: a synthetic clay-like silicate made from sodium, magnesium and aluminium salts and silica. It soaks up oil and moisture in powders and other cosmetics.
CosIng definition: Sodium Magnesium Aluminum Silicate is the complex silicate obtained by the reaction of Sodium Silicate and Sodium Aluminate in an aqueous solution of Magnesium Nitrate.
