How we scored it
Where it comes from
Produced as a recombinant protein by Saccharomyces yeast fermentation of a synthesised copy of the human kallikrein-8 gene on a nutrient medium typically based on glucose, then purified. No commercially significant non-fermentation route exists.
In plain English
A laboratory-made copy of the human enzyme kallikrein-8. It is produced by Saccharomyces yeast grown in fermentation tanks from a synthesised copy of the human gene, and is added to products as a skin-conditioning and skin-protecting ingredient.
CosIng definition: sh-Polypeptide-75 is a single chain synthetic human peptide, produced by fermentation in Saccharomyces. The starting gene is a synthesized copy of the human gene which codes for Kallikrein-8 used as such or adapted to the production host. It contains a maximum of 260 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation. The protein consists of the proper sequence of the 20 standard amino acids.
