How we scored it
Where it comes from
Fermentation-derived or hydrolysate amino acids are assembled by solid-phase peptide synthesis to match a segment of human KiSS-1, and reagents leave no mass. No alternative route is commercially significant.
In plain English
A ten-amino-acid peptide made in a laboratory to match part of a human protein called KiSS-1. CosIng lists it for skin-lightening (bleaching) and skin-protecting roles. It is built from amino acids, which are generally obtained by fermentation or by breaking down proteins.
CosIng definition: sh-Decapeptide-3 is a single chain human peptide produced synthetically to be identical to a portion of the protein Metastasis-suppressor KiSS-1, and contains 10 amino acids consisting of arginine, asparagine, glycine, leucine, phenylalanine, serine, tryptophan and tyrosine. The parent protein contains a maximum of 138 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation, and consists of the proper sequence of the 20 standard amino acids.
