How we scored it
Yeast fermentation lysate: cell proteins, peptides, polysaccharides, nucleotides and minerals all microbial-derived, n = 1; culture medium and solvents leave no mass. 100% = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route is fermentation of Saccharomyces yeast on sugar-based medium followed by cell lysis and extraction. No alternative route is in commercial use.
In plain English
An extract of broken-open yeast cells (Saccharomyces) grown in a fermentation tank, used as a skin-protecting ingredient. It contains the yeast's own proteins, peptides, sugars, vitamins and minerals.
CosIng definition: Saccharomyces Ferment Lysate Extract is the extract of the lysed cells of Saccharomyces grown in culture.
