How we scored it
Aqueous steam distillate of rose flowers; water plus trace natural volatiles, both natural-origin → 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Produced by steam-distilling damask rose flowers, chiefly in Bulgaria, Turkey and Morocco as a co-product of rose otto production. No petrochemical alternative exists.
In plain English
A fragrant water produced by steam-distilling rose petals, used to condition and protect skin and add scent. It is essentially natural rose-scented water.
CosIng definition: Rosa Damascena Flower water is an aqueous solution of the steam of the distillate obtained from the flowers of the Damask Rose, Rosa damascena, Rosaceae
