How we scored it
Press-cake of sweet almond seeds: protein, fibre and residual oil, all plant-derived; no added synthetic atoms; 1.0 / 1.0 = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Sweet almond kernels are pressed for oil and the remaining cake is dried and milled. No synthetic route exists.
In plain English
The ground solid left over after oil is pressed from sweet almonds. In cosmetics it is used as a physical exfoliant in scrubs and masks, and it adds fibre, protein and a little residual oil to the texture. It comes only from the almond kernel.
CosIng definition: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Seed Meal is the residue from the expression of oil from the dried ripe seeds of the Sweet Almond Tree, Prunus amygdalus var. dulcis, Rosaceae
