How we scored it
Plant extract, no single molecule: sugars, starch and other pulp constituents are plant-derived (n = 1), so natural fraction = 1.0. Extraction solvents and carriers leave no counted mass.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Lucuma fruit pulp, from Peru and neighbouring Andean countries, is extracted with water, ethanol or a glycol-water solvent and filtered. No synthetic alternative route exists for a botanical extract.
In plain English
An extract of the pulp of lucuma (Pouteria lucuma), a sweet, yellow-fleshed fruit native to the Andes of Peru. It is used in skin care as a skin-conditioning ingredient. It is made by soaking the fruit pulp in a solvent and filtering the liquid.
CosIng definition: Pouteria Lucuma Pulp Extract is the extract of the pulp of Pouteria lucuma, Sapotaceae.
