How we scored it
Coco acyl (coconut fatty acid; acid-chloride reagent leaves as chloride) + rice amino acids (protein hydrolysate) + K counter-ion (mineral); no petrochemical atoms = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Coconut fatty acids are converted to the acid chloride and reacted with amino acids from hydrolysed rice protein, then neutralised with potassium hydroxide. Chlorinating reagents leave no atoms in the final molecule.
In plain English
A cleansing and foaming surfactant made by attaching coconut fatty acids to amino acids from hydrolysed rice protein, then neutralising with potassium. It is used in cleansers and shampoos.
CosIng definition: Potassium Cocoyl Rice Amino Acids is the potassium salt of the product obtained by the reaction of coconut acid chloride with Rice Amino Acids
