How we scored it
Diglycerol (from glycerin, natural) esterified with oleic acid (natural) at a 2:3 ratio; condensation water not counted → 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Made by esterifying diglycerol (polymerised glycerin) with oleic acid from vegetable oil at a 2:3 molar ratio. Both feedstocks are natural-origin; no petrochemical route is used commercially.
In plain English
An emulsifier made by linking glycerin units to oleic acid, a common vegetable-oil fatty acid. Both building blocks are plant-derived.
CosIng definition: 1,2,3-Propanetriol, homopolymer, 9-(Z)-octadecenoates (2:3) (2 mol glycerol average molar ratio)
