How we scored it
Ether of lauryl alcohol (C12, oleochemical) and diglycerin (glycerol dimer); condensation loses H2O only, both fragments natural → 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Made by etherifying lauryl alcohol, typically derived from coconut or palm kernel oil, with diglycerin made from vegetable glycerin. Cosmetic-grade lauryl alcohol is usually oleochemical, though a petrochemical Ziegler/oxo route also exists.
In plain English
A gentle cleansing and foaming ingredient used in washes and shampoos. It's made by combining coconut- or palm-derived lauryl alcohol with plant-based glycerin to create a mild surfactant that helps water mix with oils and dirt.
CosIng definition: Polyglyceryl-2 Lauryl Ether is the ether of lauryl alcohol and Diglycerin
