How we scored it
Decaglycerol (10 glycerin units, natural) esterified with 2 lauric acid (C12 coconut-derived, natural) chains, losing only condensation water.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Manufactured by esterifying vegetable-glycerin-derived decaglycerol with coconut- or palm-kernel-derived lauric acid (two ester bonds). No significant petrochemical route in cosmetic use.
In plain English
A gentle cleansing ingredient made by linking ten glycerin units together and attaching two lauric acid molecules, a fatty acid from coconut oil. It helps formulas cleanse without being harsh.
CosIng definition: Diester of decaglycerol and lauric acid
