How we scored it
Where it comes from
Polyethylene glycol is reacted with dodecene oxide, with both monomers from petrochemical ethylene. An oleochemical lauryl route to the diol is conceivable but not standard supply, and would give about 0.67.
In plain English
A polymeric emulsifier made by joining polyethylene glycol with dodecyl glycol units. It stabilises water-in-oil emulsions and helps keep creams from separating. Both parts are made from petrochemical raw materials.
CosIng definition: Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), .alpha.-hydro-omega-hydroxy-, diethers with 1,2-dodecanediol homopolymer (45 mol EO, 22 mol dodecanediol average molar ratio)
