How we scored it
Pressed fruit juice: water, sugars, acids and other fruit constituents all plant-derived (n = 1). Natural mass / total mass = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant feedstock is passion fruit pulp, pressed to juice and sometimes concentrated or stabilised, from tropical growing regions. No synthetic route exists for the juice.
In plain English
Juice pressed from the fruit of the passion fruit vine (Passiflora edulis), a tropical plant grown in South America, Asia and Africa. It is used in skin-care products as a skin-conditioning ingredient. It comes directly from the fruit by pressing.
CosIng definition: Passiflora Edulis Fruit Juice is the juice expressed from the fruit of the Passionflower, Passiflora edulis, Passifloraceae
