How we scored it
Residue from fractional distillation of olive fruit oil (squalene, sterols, tocopherols): plant-derived only. 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route concentrates the unsaponifiable fraction of olive oil or its refining distillate by fractional distillation, or by saponification and solvent extraction. No alternative route is used.
In plain English
The part of olive oil that does not turn to soap, such as squalene, plant sterols and tocopherols (vitamin E), concentrated by distillation. It is used as an antioxidant, emollient and hair conditioner. It comes entirely from olives.
