How we scored it
Dried, ground lotus root: starch, fibre, proteins and phytochemicals are all plant-derived (n=1). No synthetic fragment, nothing added: 100% natural = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant source is lotus root (rhizome) from cultivated or wild stands, washed, dried and milled to a powder. No alternative route is commercially significant.
In plain English
A fine powder made by drying and grinding the root of the lotus plant. It is used in skin-care products as a skin-conditioning ingredient and consists mainly of plant starch and fibre.
CosIng definition: Nelumbo Nucifera Root Powder is the powder obtained form the dried, ground roots of Nelumbo nucifera, Nymphaeaceae
