How we scored it
Seed oil: triglycerides plus minor plant terpenoids, all plant-derived (n=1); pressing adds nothing. 1 / 1 = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Neem seeds (grown mainly in India) are mechanically pressed, usually cold-pressed, and the oil is filtered. No synthetic route exists; solvent-extracted neem oil is the same natural material.
In plain English
A plant oil pressed from neem tree seeds, used in skincare as an emollient to soften and smooth the skin. It is obtained by pressing the seeds and filtering the oil.
CosIng definition: Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil is the oil expressed from the seeds of the Neem Tree, Melia azadirachta L., Meliaceae
