How we scored it
Volatile oil steam-distilled from leaves; whole essential oils are 1.0 by this site's convention (distillation is a listed natural-origin process).
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Steam-distilled directly from the leaves of the Melaleuca ericifolia plant. No synthetic route is used for the whole essential oil.
In plain English
An essential oil steam-distilled from tea tree leaves, used for fragrance and as a skin tonic. It is a whole natural oil, not a synthesised fragrance chemical.
