How we scored it
Lysine (fermentation amino acid) + PCA, pyroglutamic acid from natural glutamic-acid cyclisation, both natural -> whole salt 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
L-lysine and PCA (pyroglutamic acid, made by cyclising fermentation-derived glutamic acid) are both produced by fermenting plant sugars, then combined as a salt. No petrochemical fragment is present.
In plain English
A moisture-binding salt made by combining the amino acid lysine with PCA, a natural part of skin's own moisturising system. Both components come from fermented plant sugars.
Structure
(2S)-2,6-diaminohexanoic acid;(2S)-5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid
