How we scored it
Plant cell-culture extract: compounds made by the cells are n = 1; medium nutrients, growth regulators and solvent are reagents that leave no mass. Natural mass 100% = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route is plant cell suspension culture in a bioreactor, followed by cell lysis and extraction. Extraction of field-grown edelweiss would also be natural origin.
In plain English
An extract from edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum) leaf cells grown in a culture tank instead of a field, used as a skin-protecting ingredient. The cells are grown on a sugar and mineral medium, then broken open and extracted.
CosIng definition: Leontopodium Alpinum Leaf Cell Extract is the extract of a culture of the leaf cells of Leontopodium alpinum, Asteraceae.
