How we scored it
Where it comes from
Made by quaternising isoquinoline (a coal-tar/petrochemical heterocycle) with a lauryl (dodecyl) halide derived from coconut fatty alcohol, then isolating the bromide salt. No natural alternative exists for the isoquinoline ring.
In plain English
A quaternary ammonium-type antimicrobial and antistatic ingredient combining a coconut-type fatty (lauryl) chain with a synthetic aromatic isoquinoline ring and a bromide salt. Part fatty/mineral, part synthetic dye-like chemistry.
