How we scored it
Transesterification/interesterification rearranges ester bonds already present in jojoba oil (or its hydrogenated form); no new atoms added → 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Manufactured by transesterifying or interesterifying jojoba seed oil and/or hydrogenated jojoba oil with itself, redistributing existing natural ester bonds. No petrochemical reagent contributes mass to the product.
In plain English
A blend of wax esters made by rearranging the natural esters already present in jojoba oil. Used as a lightweight, skin-conditioning ingredient in creams and lotions.
CosIng definition: Jojoba Esters is a complex mixture of esters produced by the transesterification/interesterification of Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil (q.v.), Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil (q.v.), or a mixture of the two
