How we scored it
Alcohol fraction from saponified jojoba oil, a natural liquid wax ester → 1.0
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Jojoba Alcohol is the fatty alcohol portion left over when natural jojoba oil is split, or saponified, into its acid and alcohol components. Both resulting fractions are natural, oleochemical materials.
In plain English
A skin-conditioning fatty alcohol obtained by splitting natural jojoba oil into its component parts. Used to soften and smooth skin and hair.
CosIng definition: Jojoba Alcohol is the alcohol fraction obtained by the saponification of Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil (q.v.)
