How we scored it
Botanical root (rhizome) extract; 1.0 by this site's convention for botanical extracts.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Extracted from dried, aged rhizomes of Iris pallida, a traditional perfumery raw material (orris root) grown mainly in Italy. No synthetic route replaces the natural extract.
In plain English
An extract from iris root, long prized in perfumery for its violet-like scent, used to add fragrance and a toning effect to skin and hair products.
CosIng definition: Iris Pallida Root Extract is an extract of the roots of the Pale Flag, Iris pallida, Iridaceae
