Is Hydrolyzed Soy Protein PG-Propyl Methylsilanediol natural?

Mostly. The protein carries almost all of the mass; the small silane modifier is petrochemical.

How we scored it

Hydrolysed soy protein (natural) carrying a small PG-propyl methylsilanediol modifier (petrochemical silane), about one per 1,000 Da of peptide, as for the live keratin and silk versions: 0.80.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.

Where it comes from

Soybean protein is hydrolysed and reacted with a synthetic organosilane (a glycol-substituted propyl methylsilanediol). The silane content is not published, so the 70% protein share from the site ruling for silicone-bound proteins was used.

In plain English

Soy protein broken into small pieces and chemically linked to a small silicon-based group. It conditions hair and skin. The protein comes from soybeans; the silicon-containing link group is synthetic.

CosIng definition: Protein hydrolyzates, soybean, reaction product with 1,2-propanediol, dihydroxymethylpropylsilyl ether
