How we scored it
Palm oil triglyceride, hydrogenated (H2 leaves no mass); natural building blocks throughout = 1.0
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Made by catalytic hydrogenation of palm oil, a vegetable oil pressed from the fruit of the oil palm. The process only saturates double bonds and adds no petrochemical mass.
In plain English
A thickening, skin-softening ingredient made by hardening natural palm oil with hydrogen so it becomes more solid and stable. It comes entirely from the oil palm fruit.
