How we scored it
Controlled hydrogenation of olive oil; hydrogen addition leaves no mass, all carbons remain olive-oil-derived (hydrogenated-oil precedent).
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Hydrogenated Olive Oil is made by controlled hydrogenation of olive (Olea europaea) fruit oil, saturating its double bonds. All carbon atoms trace to the natural olive oil.
In plain English
A thickening, skin-conditioning ingredient made by hardening olive oil through hydrogenation, similar to how liquid vegetable oil is turned into a solid fat. It remains fully plant-derived.
CosIng definition: Hydrogenated Olive Oil is the end product of the controlled hydrogenation of olive (Olea europaea) oil
