How we scored it
Castor oil triglyceride with C=C bonds saturated by H2; all carbons remain castor-oil carbons. 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Made by catalytic hydrogenation of natural castor oil (Ricinus communis seed oil) to saturate its ricinoleic-acid double bonds. The hydrogen used leaves no mass in the product.
In plain English
A waxy, solid version of castor oil made by adding hydrogen to harden it. Used as a thickener and emulsifier in creams, sticks and cleansers. Comes from the seeds of the castor plant.
CosIng definition: Castor oil, hydrogenated
