How we scored it
Glycerin plus oleic acid, ester water lost; all fragments natural origin, so 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route esterifies glycerin with oleic acid from olive, sunflower or palm oil, giving a mono/dioleate blend with about 1.5 oleate per glycerin. No petrochemical route is used commercially.
