How we scored it
Solvent extract (concrete) of lichen: lichen depsides, waxes and resins, all natural-origin metabolites (n=1). 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant feedstock is wild-harvested oakmoss lichen, solvent-extracted to a concrete. Synthetic oakmoss-type fragrance bases exist but are not this INCI ingredient.
In plain English
A waxy, fragrant extract of oakmoss, a lichen that grows on oak and other trees, made by extracting it with a solvent and evaporating the solvent. It supplies a mossy, woody base note in perfumes and is used in small amounts as a fragrance ingredient.
CosIng definition: "Oakmoss Concrete". Evernia Prunastri Lichen Extract is an extract (concrete) obtained from the Oak Moss, Evernia prunastri, Usneaceae, a lichen growing primarily on oak trees
