How we scored it
Polyglyceryl-3 (glycerin) + isostearic acid (oleic-acid derived) + dilinoleic dimer acid (vegetable fatty acids) esters; all building blocks oleochemical: 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Triglycerin is esterified with dimer dilinoleic acid and isostearic acid, all from vegetable-oil fatty acids and glycerin. Isostearic acid is a by-product of oleic-acid dimerisation, so no petrochemical route is typical.
In plain English
A thick, oily ester that gives lipsticks and creams a glossy, cushiony feel and helps hold pigments in place. It is built from a short glycerin chain, isostearic acid and dimer acid, all derived from vegetable oils.
CosIng definition: Di-9,12-octadecadienoic acid diester with triglyceryl-di-16-methylheptadecanoate
