How we scored it
Ester of decyl alcohol (C10, natural) + oleic acid (C18, natural); both oleochemical fragments → 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
How it’s made
Where it comes from
Made by esterifying natural decyl alcohol, coconut-derived, with natural oleic acid from vegetable oils such as olive or sunflower. No petrochemical variant is used commercially.
In plain English
A lightweight, silky emollient that helps products glide onto skin. Both its building blocks come from natural coconut and vegetable oil fatty acids.
Structure
decyl (Z)-octadec-9-enoate
