How we scored it
Botanical extract (n = 1): carotenoids, sugars and aroma compounds all plant-derived; no synthetic fragment. 1.0 / 1.0 = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route is solvent extraction (water, glycerin or ethanol-water) of carrot; the solvent is not part of the INCI ingredient. No commercially significant synthetic route exists.
In plain English
An extract of whole carrot root, used to condition skin and also listed for fragrance use. It carries carrot's natural carotenoids (including beta-carotene), sugars and plant compounds, drawn out with a solvent and entirely plant-derived.
CosIng definition: Daucus Carota Sativa Extract is the extract of the whole Carrot, Daucus carota L. subsp. Sativus, Apiaceae
