How we scored it
Botanical extract (n = 1): sugars, fruit acids, carotenoid and anthocyanin pigments all plant-derived; no synthetic fragment. 1.0 / 1.0 = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route is solvent extraction (water, glycerin or ethanol-water) of tamarillo fruit; the solvent is not part of the INCI ingredient. No commercially significant synthetic route exists.
In plain English
An extract of tamarillo (tree tomato) fruit, used to condition skin. It carries the fruit's natural sugars, fruit acids, pigments and vitamins, taken from the fruit with water or another solvent.
CosIng definition: Cyphomandra Betacea Fruit Extract is the extract of the fruit of Cyphomandra betacea, Solanaceae
