How we scored it
Botanical extract (n = 1): terpenes, flavonoids, sugars and starch fragments all plant-derived; no synthetic fragment. 1.0 / 1.0 = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route is solvent extraction (water, glycerin or ethanol-water) of nutgrass tubers; the solvent is not part of the INCI ingredient. No commercially significant synthetic route exists.
In plain English
An extract of nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus) tubers, used to condition skin. It holds the tubers' natural plant compounds, including essential-oil terpenes, flavonoids and sugars, drawn out with a solvent and entirely plant-derived.
CosIng definition: Cyperus Rotundus Tuber Extract is the extract of the tubers of Cyperus rotundus, Cyperaceae.
