How we scored it
Essential oil of plant-biosynthesised terpenoids, all n=1, so 1.0 (b).
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Rhizomes of Curcuma aromatica, grown in India and Southeast Asia, are steam-distilled to give the volatile oil. No synthetic route exists for the distilled oil.
In plain English
Essential oil steam-distilled from the roots (rhizomes) of wild turmeric, a ginger-family plant from South Asia. It is listed as a skin-conditioning ingredient. Its aroma compounds, such as camphor, are terpenoids made by the plant.
CosIng definition: Curcuma Aromatica Root Oil is the volatile oil obtained from the roots of Curcuma aromatica, Zingiberaceae
