How we scored it
Polypeptide built entirely from amino acids (protein-hydrolysate feedstock); no synthetic fragment. 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Extracted or hydrolysed from animal (commonly bovine, porcine or marine) connective tissue rich in the natural amino acids proline and hydroxyproline. No synthetic manufacturing route is used.
In plain English
A natural structural protein found in skin, bone and connective tissue, usually sourced from cattle, pigs or fish. In cosmetics it is used to moisturise and condition skin and hair.
CosIng definition: Collagens. A fibrous protein comprising one third of the total protein in mammalian organisms. It is a polypeptide containing three peptide chains and rich in proline and hydroxyproline
